In the pirate-infested waters of Africa, “Ever Diadem” from Ervegreen which exposed themselves to risk to rescue the Taiwanese crew.
On 9th. July, “Ever Diadem” found Taiwanese fishing boat”Auspicious blessing No.6” which was near the island of Madagascar of the southeast of Africa was on fire , and sailors have been forced to abandon ship. “Ever Diadem” yawed immediately, not only rescue but also coordinated with another cargo ship imergently to rescue together, and 30 crew drifting on the sea was rescued successfully, it fully show the lofty spirit of regarding others as one's brothers and having others' sufferings on heart.
Due to the high speed and height of the container ship, though it was of great value, the pirates can neither catch up nor reach it. Once the ship stopped, it will be exposed into the risk,“Ever Diadem” adventured to save Taiwanese sailors, except for braveness, the ship is indeed sails to Africa but not false pirates, this was also confirmed by Taiwan, which accomplish this task successfully and avoid being attacked by pirates.
On that day, “Ever Diadem” which was on the way from Singapore to durban, South Africa, found that the crew abandoned the ship and split into two life rafts, which occurred disaster near the fishing vessel. Captain of “Ever Diadem” Yantang Dai reported to maritime search and rescue coordination center of South Africa, and the crews were on standby to carry out rescue command, considerating of a large number of crews under disaster, so getting contact with a ship with Marshall cadastral called SBI ANTARES in adjacent waters and then sailed to the accident site to carry out rescue action.
Because of the presence of pirates in the African sea, the risk and difficulty of this rescue mission are greatly improved. But “Ever Diadem” team aimed for safety of life at sea, under the leadership of the captain, the crews work together, rescued 16 crew members of a raft firstly , Marshall cadastral merchant ship rescued the other crews of 14 who are waiting for being rescued. Almost 30 crew members, incl. three Taiwan nationals, seven Filipino nationals, four Vietnamese nationals and 16 Indonesian crew members.
After completed the rescue work, “Ever Diadem” not only took care of crews of ”Auspicious Blessing No.6” & contacted with owner of this ship which located in Gaoxiong but also coordinated with Marshall merchant ship, after arrived at the port of durban, South Africa, all suffering screws were pass to the local agent and to be arranged to return back.
“Ever Diadem” is a container ship of "D" type of evergreen group, it can load 4211 pcs of 20 ft containers, and is sailing from Far East ~ South Africa route at present, docking ports including Shanghai, Ningbo, keelung, Singapore and Durban.
