Saudi Arab shipping company (Bahri), a subsidiary of Bahri Dry Bulk Companey ((BDB) recently at hyundai heavy industries (ship hangar) book and make the order of 4 80000 tons of Bulk carrier ship (ship form shipyard business), at about $30 million each, a total of 120 million dollars. The new ship will be delivered in the first half of 2020 from the modern tail ship.
Bahri did not disclose how the order was financed. Bahri said the details would be disclosed after a period of time. The new ship will adopt the latest international technical specifications, with environmental performance and fuel efficiency.
Currently, Bahri's fleet owns four bulk carriers and six multi-purpose vessels. By expanding its fleet of multi-purpose vessels, Bahri wants to support the growing demand for grain imports from Saudi Arabia. For the past six months, Bahri has established two dry bulk joint ventures with Bunge and France's Bollore group.
Bahri has a close relationship with hyundai heavy industries. Both Bahri and hyundai are shareholders in Saudi Aramco's joint venture shipyard in Saudi Arabia. Previously, Bahri disclosed plans to invest $139m in the joint venture.
For hyundai's shipbuilding, Bahri's new order is crucial. Not long ago, due to a sluggish workload, the company asked 5,000 workers to take unpaid leave from September.
At present, the number of orders for modern heavy industry is 85, significantly lower than last year's 110. According to one hyundai official, only 10 new ships are being built, leaving 5,000 workers idle.
