The manufacturer ERMA FIRST of Ballast water (product library purchasing supply) management system announced its full flow electrolytic ballast water management systems (BWTS) has passed the type approval from United States coast guard (USCG)on 18th,Oct. It is the sixth one to get USCG type approval of ballast water treatment system and also the first whole process electrolytic treatment manufacturer to get USCG type approval.
Dr Efi Tsolaki is the chief scientific officer of research and development department from ERMA FIRST company. He said “We are pleased to announce that we have developed the whole flow of electrolytic ERMA FIRST BWTS FIT management system which had become the first to pass the type approval of USCG and meet the latest rules and requirements all over the world via our long term and continous research on US Coast Guard certification plan.
As far as we know, the whole flow electrolytic ERMA FIRST BWTS FIT ballast water management system is Modular ballast water management system that could meet all the special installation requirements .Due to the capacity of the ballast water management system is 50-3740 m3/h, it is suitable to be installed on various types and sizes of vessels. The ERMA FIRST certified product includes 13 different types of products in the range of 90-3740m3/h.
The main components of the ballast water management system are a end backwash filter and a cell, which performs well under the most stringent conditions.The self-cleaning automatic sieve filter has the nominal filtration rate of 40 microns. It is not required to use the system when the ship is unloaded.Because the system will be completely bypass (by - passed), in the appropriate after neutralization, ballast water can be discharged directly to the outside of the ship so that could save quite a lot of energy for ship operators and managers.It can avoid any danger of microbial regeneration by an active substance produced by electrolysis method.
